Transpose chords
Paste a chord sheet, then move it up or down by half steps. Only chord lines change; lyric lines and spacing stay as they were.
G C G Amazing grace, how sweet the sound G D That saved a wretch like me
Questions
How many half steps should I move?
One half step equals one fret. To move a song from G to A, go up 2; from G to E, go down 3.
Should I transpose or use a capo?
Use a capo when you want to keep easy open shapes and just raise the pitch. Transpose when you want to play in a lower key or share the chords with another instrument.
Sharps or flats?
Keys like F, Bb and Eb are usually written with flats, and G, D, A and E with sharps. Switch on flats for flat keys.
